A Tour Through Latin America- Las Iguanas Style!
Come and Journey Latin America!
The incredible Continent that inspired the founding of Las Iguanas
Founded in 1991, Las Iguanas was the first Latin American influenced restaurant to open its doors to the quirky city of Bristol. Not surprisingly, it did not take long for the country to crave a true bite of Latin cuisine and we now have over 53 sites around the UK.
Our love for Latin America, its dramatic landscapes, and its fresh, vibrant and exotic flavours is what makes Las Iguanas so authentic. Our travels around this colourful, crazy and charming continent have directly influenced our dishes. From Brazil to Cuba to Mexico and Argentina, we have a dish for every special spot. We pride ourselves in infusing the fun and celebratory Latin lifestyle and flavours into our restaurants and our food. This is why we believe Las Iguanas is such an exciting company to be a part of.
So come and journey through Latin America with us and find out more about our favourite Latin places to visit and of course, EAT!
BRAZIL – RIO DE JANEIRO
As the largest country in Latin America, Brazil offers its visitors a number of incredible landscapes, eateries and fantastic carnivals. One of its most frequented Cities is the iconic Rio De Jeneiro- a mesmerizing city brimming with colour, and vibrant and exciting fresh flavours.
Here at Las Iguanas we love to support small businesses which is why we source our very own Magnifica Cachaca directly from Brazil. Based in Miguel Pereira, master Cachaca maker Joao Luiz looks after our field of Las Iguanas sugar cane. He harvests it, distills it, bottles it and ships it directly to our restaurants!
Our travels in Brazil have influenced a number of our dishes. One of the most well-loved traditional Bahian dishes, the XinXim, is one of our most classic and delicious dishes. We also serve a fantastic Bahian Coconut Chicken.
ARGENTINA- BUENOS AIRES
Located in the southern half of Latin America, Argentina is most famous for its many bars. Offering live music from a variety of genres and European and African influences, its always a party. The country has the highest consumption of red meat in the entire world! Our famous Dulche De Leche caramel sauce is also influenced from Argentina. Interestingly, it is a popular national spread used for a variety of sweet desserts.
Delicious dishes that are influenced from Argentina can be found on our menu! They include the Buenos Aires Burger (winner of the national burger award), and our Sirloin Steak.
CUBA – HAVANA
Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean and is, in fact, the largest island in its region. Its capital Havana, is its largest city and the country’s economy is largely dominated by the exports of sugar, tobacco, coffee and skilled labor. Cuba is very famous for its music culture which tends to be highly rich and expressive. Its cuisine comes from a fusion of both Caribbean and Spanish influences and is always rich in flavour and spices.
Our travels through Cuba have influenced our love for Havana Rum and its infusion into our sticky Havana Club Ribs. We also have our popular Cuban sandwich.
Mexico is as diverse and complex as its mesmerizing history. Rich in literary and music culture, Mexico is most famous for its cuisine. Rich, bold and intense flavours permeate their food with dishes varying across location within the country. Mexico’s most traditional and well known dishes include tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos, and tamales among many others.
Our Mexican classics section of our menu is highly popular due to tasty dishes such as our Chipotle Chicken Burrito and our Veggie Chilli.
No matter where our influences come from, our dishes all have one thing in common. They are all made from scratch using only the best ingredients! Latin America is all about refreshing and vibrant flavours hence why it is so important to us to provide our guests with the very same.
Our busy restaurants are always looking for new passionate hospitality professionals to join their ranks and the celebratory Latin lifestyle. It is not everyday that you can have a Latin carnival at work, so check out our latest vacancies and apply today!
