Why join the Las Iguanas team? For us its simple, without the people who run the restaurants, cook and serve the fresh food and drink and give our guests that amazing experience that keeps them returning there would be no Las Iguanas. We really are a company who are all about the people, and our people are part of our DNA.
Our track record for selecting the best, promoting people internally and investing in their development is rare in our industry, it’s at the core of what we do. Our employees love to meet and mingle every day whether it’s in their restaurants or sharing the fun on our Facebook Community Page, and with restaurants all over the UK, when we all get together as a company we know how to celebrate!
We have no plans on slowing down any time soon. We are always looking for people who are as passionate about hospitality as we are to the join the team. We are genuinely excited about the journey ahead and we think you will be too.
We couldn’t be prouder to work with such amazing people and wherever possible we like to shout about their successes. The annual Las Iguanas awards ceremony is the most talked about date in our calendar. This isn’t your average awards ceremony; it’s bigger and better every year with an ever changing theme, this is our version of the Oscars to celebrate the shining stars of the previous year.
It’s a time for us celebrate the incredible records that have been broken, the progression our teams have made and just a few of our amazing team members and their stories that make you honoured to say you work for Las Iguanas.
Take look for yourself… you have to see it to believe it!
Nacho’ average company!
We recognise that people work for people and throughout the 26 years since Las Iguanas was founded, we have never lost sight of this. We honestly believe that we work with the best people in the industry and in order for this to continue we need to make sure our team feel appreciated and supported. As well as our Managers having the potential to earn bonuses we are also proud to say that 100% of all tips go to the team members.
We celebrate the great work and successes of our teams and we love to inject fun and energy into every working day. Throughout the year we have a number of incentives, competitions, trips away and fancy dress events which the whole company gets involved in. Our Management and team motivation is so important to us that we are one of the very few hospitality companies to employ a ‘Motivation Manager’ who is responsible for all the incentives, competitions, engagement and motivation of our teams.
Race to Rio
The Race to Rio is our biggest and best annual incentive. Three restaurants are chosen to experience the sights and sounds of Brazil on a fully guided tour. By giving the very finest customer service, the winners get to experience first-hand Latin American hospitality on the legendary, all expenses paid annual trip and learn about the origins of tour guiding and where our brand came from!
We believe that training is a right and not a luxury and we are here to support you in becoming the best team member or Manager you can be. While we recognise that not everyone wants progression, if it’s as important to you as it is to us then we will put a plan in place to support you in getting to where you want to be.
Training our team to the highest standard is key in ensuring our guests receive the best experience possible. It’s simply really; it is our job to provide you with the training and tools to enable you to keep our guests returning.
As a new team member you will receive 1 week training followed by continuous coaching and training sessions. As a support manager you will receive a 4 week training plan in your own site tailored specifically to you. That’s right, each new Manager receives a personal training plan!
As the head honcho of your site, General Managers and Head Chefs receive 5 weeks training. You are paired with a Senior General Manager or Head Chef from your regional training site. All of our FOH management training is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
We believe that continuous training and development is crucial for your career. Our policy at Las Iguanas is to promote from within wherever possible and we don’t recruit externally for positions until we have looked for the potential people in the business. We have many tools in place to help support you in developing to the next level, including a schedule of Management development workshop days, your own Development Passport, development sessions with your Operations Manager, and a full management development programme to name just a few!
The stats speak for themselves, 70% of our restaurants are run by General Managers who have been developed from within the company, in the last year 152 of our people have been promoted internally, 5 out of 7 of our Operations Managers have come up through the Las Iguanas ranks, 100% of our training team and training Managers are internal to name but a few.
You are what you make and we make from scratch!
Here at Las Iguanas we have an unmatched variety of boldly spiced favorites and constantly evolving new discoveries. In each Las Iguanas kitchen, every dish is cooked by skilled chefs with more experience and training than is typical for affordable restaurants. All our imaginative spicy and sweet sauces and salsas are made from scratch, using only the finest ingredients.
We are not only proud of our delicious and authentic food but also our cocktails that transport your taste buds to the golden shores of Brazil. Our Magnifica Cachaça is harvested from our sugar cane crops in Rio de Janeiro by our Master Cachaça maker Joao Luiz. Our Magnifica Cachaça features in a number of our fresh and authentic Latin American Cocktails, but it is our famous Caipirinha menu that really enumerates the national spirit of Brazil. With one of the largest Caipirinha menus in the country, we believe it is our most popular signature go-to drink.
We are all about happy days not happy hours which is why we offer 2 for 1 Cocktails all day every day. Our treasured Bartenders receive full training on the Bar and are given the opportunity to progress to Master Bartender if they desire. We are not a company that likes to stand still which is why we are constantly looking for ways to develop and improve. We encourage our people to get involved in the Bar and Back of house Challenge that occurs twice a year. This is a fantastic opportunity for people to bring out their creative side by creating a tantalizing dish or zesty drink! The winning dish and drink are added to our menu for our guests to enjoy and a prize is awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
